ESV Archaeology Study Bible
The English Standard Version (ESV) Archaeology Study Bible by Crossway Publishers.
The English Standard Version (ESV) is a translation of the Bible in contemporary English which relies on recently published critical editions of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. The ESV bible is considered an excellent translation; not as literal as the New American Standard Bible (NASB) but more literal than the New International Version (NIV) translation.
“The ESV Archaeology Study Bible roots the biblical text in its historical and cultural context, offering readers a framework for better understanding the people, places, and events recorded in Scripture. With editorial oversight from Dr. John Currid (PhD, University of Chicago) and Dr. David Chapman (PhD, University of Cambridge), as well as contributions from a team of field-trained archaeologists, the Archaeology Study Bible assembles a range of modern scholarship―pairing the biblical text with over 2,000 study notes, 400 full-color photographs, 200 maps and diagrams, 200 sidebars, 14 articles, and 4 timelines. These features bring life to the ancient texts, helping readers situate them in their historical context while recognizing the truth that the eternal God became flesh entered human history at a specific time and in a specific place.”
Reader’s note: When interacting with atheist secularist “scholars” in certain fields, you may encounter interpretative models that they’ve constructed and/or espouse are made of cheese.
If you encounter such models that wrongly interpret evidence in profoundly incorrect ways, typically to meet their psychological and ideological needs, it is suggested to take a step back and review the evidence for yourself.
As they drift ever further off course, even to the extent that a growing number of them deny that Jesus, Solomon, Moses, Abraham, etc. were even historical people, consider the “echo chamber” these atheists operate in as they employ “peer review” to cosign each other’s new moon is made of cheese models (though sometimes with minor criticisms).
The secular academic system rewards them for this, of course, promotes them and extends them tenure. Their students are awarded PhDs for writing theses on exactly what types of cheese the moon is made of.
The few Christian scholars that slipped through the wall thrown up in secular academia to prevent Christians from advancing in that domain (a wall that is informally enforced to prevent Christian scholars from entering and advancing in secular academia reminiscent of the formal wall the state atheists enforced in the Soviet Union and today in communist China) who dare to carefully explain why the moon is not made of cheese are criticized afterwards, denied tenure, and sometimes demoted or let go altogether for doing so.
I’d type in an ending here but it has not ended.
